1980’s Webquest

1.               Introduction

Hello, students! Today, you will be exploring pop culture of the 1980’s. The 80’s brought about brand new technology that influenced music, movies, and television. Movie stars and music artists became celebrities. It was a decade of transformation


2.               Task

You will follow the links provided to several websites containing information about pop culture in the 80’s. You will read a variety of resources devoted to these 10 years, and will then compare our society today with the culture of the 1980’s.


3.               Process

The process of investigation will involve reading several online articles and websites devoted to aspects of pop culture in the 1980’s, and then brainstorming about the ways the 80’s differ from pop culture today. We will have six in-class periods in the computer lab to complete the Webquest.

5.               Evaluation

 Now that you have research pop culture in the 1980’s, compare it to our culture today. What is different? What is the same? Why do you think certain things were popular back then but aren’t today? Have you ever heard any of the songs, seen any of the movies/tv shows, worn any of the fashions, or played any of the games/toys?

Write a 2 page paper (MLA) on your thoughts. Write at least one paragraph for each aspect of pop culture you researched (music, movies/T.V. shows, fashion, sports, and toys/games). You may use outsiders as well.


6.               Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve just completed a pretty tough assignment! By finishing this webquest, you are now an expert in 1980’s pop culture.
